Dear Members, Former Members and Prospective
Members,
Please renew your membership in the Society
Mobile-La Habana for 2007. Former members: we miss you! Prospective members:
we invite you to join us. Dues are vital to the work of the Society as well as
the Mobile-Havana sister city organization. Our mission: “To work with
citizens and officials in Havana, Cuba, to promote better understanding of each
other’s cultures; to share in solving mutual problems, especially in the fields
of health, education, and the arts, and to promote good relations between all
the people of Havana and Mobile.” We cannot fulfill our mission without your
contributions. Over the past year, the Society has:
-Enhanced the collection of Cuba-related
materials at the Mobile Public Library with a donation of $1,600 in honor of
Mike Dow
-Educated thousands of students about Cuban
culture and traditions through a beautiful, interactive booth at the Mobile
International Festival
-Sent delegates, including three speakers, Mike
Dow, Jay Higginbotham, and Maria Mendez, to the U.S. Cuban Sister Cities
Association’s Trilateral Conference in Kingston, Ontario, to promote sister city
activities in Canada, Cuba, and the U.S.
-Hosted Ron Sparks, Alabama Commissioner of
Agriculture and Industries, at our annual meeting to speak about Alabama-Cuba
trade.
The Society Mobile-La Habana is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization. Dues are tax-deductible.
