Mobile Civic Center
10:00 AM-5:00 PM – Mobile International Festival
Once again the Society will create and staff the Cuba exhibit at the festival. Many thousands of students and adults attend this annual event, and volunteers are needed throughout the three days to welcome visitors to our display. Volunteers will receive free entry to the festival and can ease away from their post in shifts to enjoy the great variety of cultural, geographical, and edible offerings.

Unknown future time – perhaps soon
The Society has taken the lead in prompting the city to upgrade the Sister Cities signpost on the downtown waterfront. At one time the post was a fairly grand marker with separate boards naming each of Mobile's sister cities, pointing the direction to it, and showing the distance in miles and kilometers. But the signpost had become somewhat decrepit, and certain sister cities were missing. Now the authorities have agreed to correct this. When the restored signpost is ready, Society members will be invited to participate in a ceremony signaling its resurrection.

Notable August 2011 event -
In memory of stalwart member Rev. William Fountaine, the Society donated a collection of materials about Cuba to the Mobile Public Library. The Mobile Press-Register carried an article and picture of the presentation on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
